curtOlympic edition

This is the first time where I'm actually enjoying more than USA Basketball in the Olympics. Even though China is 12 hours opposite of us, it is still exciting to see some of these competitions.

This is Alicia Sacramone, from the USA Olympic woman's gymnastics team, knocking a dude out. I really think she should have pulled this trick on some of the people that interviewed her after their line of questioning. Yeah, she turned out to be human and slipped up and cost the Team USA to get the Silver medal. But kudos to the team for standing behind the 'team aspect' as specific line of questions were asked to try and cause dissension with the team.

Casey Hampton offseason workout with Pens fans

After reading the story about Casey Hampton and his inability to complete a few running drills in the Pittsburgh Steelers training camp and subsequently placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP list), it reminded me of the Pens.

HOW does that remind me of the Pens you may ask? Well I'll tell you.

May 4th 2008, during the Stanly Cup run the Pens played the New York Rangers. We won, and it was an great game. You may remember seeing Casey Hampton's picture behind the Pens players celebrating a goal in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

So what else can you do after watching an afternoon game but do some post tailgating. So my group of friends are hanging out in the Melody Lot parking lot after the game and we see a cab pull up in the lot right by us. We didn't understand why a cab was pulling up, but it was quickly answered when out jumps none other than Casey Hampton. Turns out he took a cab from the game to his Hummer parked right by us. Maybe he did that because he didn't want to sign 1,000 autographs, but looking back the walk may have been a good idea.

Lucky for us, he must not have had much to do that afternoon as he stuck around and played beer pong for a while. Gotta love it...
