Where do I go from here? Check back in

Where do I go from here?

Yes, I'm back. A winter road trip will hopefully get me out of my funk. But the picture above from my porch is what I'm getting ready to roll out into. Yikes.

Check back in a few hours to see: where I'm going, who I'm meeting up with, and what I'm doing which I haven't done in at least 10 years.

cO.

Friday catch up

Time to fill in with posts I've missed:

Tuesday was an awesome time at the Pens game. Ty Conklin once again showed why 30 is the new 20 as he kept the Pens in the game the whole time. All he needed was some offensive help, which the Pens obliged with a crazy 3rd period being down 2-0, to win 3-2. Ryan Malone has been showing how great a Pittsburgh Kid can be.

Ty in the 2nd Period still wondering when his team will show up. He seems to love doing a little spin around when there is a break in the action. Maybe for a couple pictures since he is always smiling under that mask. How couldn't you be smiling all the time when you are the baddest backup goalie ever? Really, backup? With Fleury coming back very soon, we will see how true that statement is.

The Cotton Candy Man was doin da damn ding as he does for all Penguins, Pirates, Steelers, and Pitt Panthers games. Sometimes I think we need to sign him to be on every team we have. His tireless dedication is amazing.

Unlike Larry Richert who looked nice and lazy on the back of the Zamboni. I would guess he was doing his "Larry on the Job" TV show since they were filming him the whole time.

Look, three more people doing their job. Above is Mary and her friend with the Conkin #35 Ty-es, and below is the awesome: Bill the Cameraguy getting them on TV. Mary can thank my Pops for pointing him in their direction. Not that he wouldn't have seen these two beauties, but still. My Dad says, "you are welcome."
Watch out Mary, the wave is about to get you...

Because of all the hard workers in the Arena, Ryan Malone finally decided to pitch in twice with two goals in the last 3:20 of the game. This picture is as he makes his move towards the goal with less than a minute left in the game as we were tied 2-2.
Next thing we know, there is a celebration going on in Mellon Arena. Woot!

Yeah, I said celebration...give it to em' Tim and lady with a Ty on the JumboTron.

Ty, although officially you were the 3rd Star for the night...without you we wouldn't have been able to have 2 other Stars of the game.
I would have given the second Star to Mary. YES, the first star ever given to a female. And of course the number 1 Star goes to Mr. Pittsburgh, Ryan "J's OH MY" Malone.

True Story of Life and Love

*Has been removed by the blog owner*

Time constraints

I apologize for the lack of posts the past couple days. Busy times, very busy times.

But there should be a good update around lunch time tomorrow with pictures from the Pens game tonight where the Pens beat the Florida Panthers in the 3rd period with less than a minute left, Evgeni Malkin is now in first place in the NHL for the most points, and Ty Conklin was outstanding in net AGAIN. The post will be more pictures than anything.

My love in 1993 no Justin Timberlake here

Maybe it's all this darn Valentine's Day love in the air, but I'm forced to share some "Just the curtO things" from 1993, 11th/12th grades, when I thought I found my first wife, Julie. If I close my eyes really hard, EDITED DUE TO MATURE CONTENT...

WAIT...this is a PG-13 blog...so I'll just give you the top 3 "get freeky" songs from back in the day, that take me back a good decade and a half. Ummm, thanks AMY (not Winehouse) for reminding how much I miss Julie. NOT. HAHA.

Silk - "Freak Me (I wanna lick you up and down)"

H-Town - "Knockin da Boots"

Candyman - "Knockin Boots"

Sorry T-Gunn...no Digital Underground in there, but "Kiss You Back" is a top 10.

BONUS TRACK-BONUS TRACK-BONUS TRACK-BONUS TRACK...
not love here, but it's SO 1993 for T-Ghat and C-Note...

Valentine's Day - what are you gonna do?

Happy Valentines Day to all you love birds out there. To the ladies, hopefully you sucker your man hard enough that he gets you something nice. And to the dudes, I pity you if you don't get your woman exactly what she wants.

But lucky for me...I'll be doing something I love. That's not a WHO I'll be doing, but a what I'll be doing - taking photos. If you aren't busy come on down to Shootz Cafe in the SouthSide from 7-10pm for the Valentines Day Battle of the Sexes with Fusion. Click here for more info.

Where were the Pens tonight?

The Pittsburgh Penguins played the Boston Bruins tonight at Mellon Arena. Unfortunately the whole team didn't come to play tonight. But as usual Malkin and Conklin did (Crosby was there as well, story below) and they only lost by 1. IF only we would have had one more guy out on the ice we probably would have won BIG. Tomorrow night fellas, please show up in Carolina.

On a side note...in the 3rd period Erik Christensen took a chop to the chin or throat by Zdeno Chara and went to the locker room for a bit. But less than 5 minutes after he left the ice we started hearing screetches from girls, and yells of SIDNEY. So everyone looks over and sure nuff, there is Sidney Crosby coming down the "common folk" steps making his way to the locker room I'd assume to check on Erik. If I had to guess, the trainer needed some of Sid's magical spit to wipe on the affected area to cure all ailments...sure nuff, a few minutes later Erik made his way back onto the ice.

I thought that was really classy of Sidney to come down to check on his teammate. This Kid amazes me every day and so thankful that he is part of our team.

Snow snow snow

So no one around me died, (knock on wood) that I know of...so the day was successful according to my last post. But the above picture was taken at 9am this morning on my way to work. I love the snow, but love it so much more when I don't have to go anywhere in it.

Below photo was at 12pm today...two hours before work let us out of work early due to the weather. I'd say my place got about 6 inches, then the rain/sleet/ice started. It's late, but before I go to bed, I'd like to send a special thanks to Mike and Amy (not Winehouse) for caring enough to try and help me get out of my funk. Notes have been taken, and applied to the "friendship" category. The funk still continues, and my list of annoyances grows. But I'm going to try and keep it out of my blog.

My Monday gripes sans the Pens

An enjoyable weekend. The best part, the Penguins are now in first place for their division. But that's where the good ends.

Monday's just aren't my friend anymore. Two weeks in a row now I've been really bothered by Monday. Most people that know me realize that is so not like me, I just take things in stride and keep it moving. But not today, and not last Monday when I think I figured out I was up upset because of a bad dream that continued on after I woke up. Today, I'm contributing it to these factors:
  • I woke up with a sore throat, which usually leads to full blown sickness for me.
  • When I looked at my indoor/outdoor weather station, it indicated to me the outdoor temperature was 4 degrees.
  • By the time I got out of the shower it was up to 4.1
  • On Sunday, driving past a dude less than 10 minutes after he got hit by a car isn't a great thing to see.
  • There is absolutely nothing on TV on Monday nights.
  • There was a commercial for the TV show "Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann," just a commercial mind you, and if I see that Bruno guy ever again I will throw up. Just annoys me soooo bad. But that goes with any of those corny dancing shows.
  • I could really care less about the Grammy's, and that Amy Winehouse that shouldn't be rewarded for being a strung out drug user that can clean herself up enough to have a bunch of kids realize as long as you can look good when you pick up your awards you can do as many drugs as you want to. Not a good lesson for kids to learn.
  • And a sad self realization. The more people you meet, the more discerning you must become with whom you call a friend, who you do things for, and when to draw a line of being generous and being taken advantage of. At my age can I change that part of my personality?
  • And last, I had two photos published in the Pittsburgh Business Times, but once again without credit given.

So that is it. Hopefully Tuesday will be warmer, sickless, friendlier, and no one ends up dead. Well, as long as no one ends up dead, I'm going to call the day a success.

DC people, go visit my friend DJ Stylus.

I know I have at least 2 steady readers in DC. So if you aren't busy on Saturday, go check out DJ Stylus (Rhomie Rhome). I've been friends with this guy since 1990, when MC Hammer pants were the thing, and we wore the same basketball jersey, Lions. From his blog at vibeconductor.com:
"Sharkey asked me to come spin some records with him. Sharkey has a lot of stuff going on - been killing it with his own joints and with Monster Maker. He stays up in the magazines and on the road with a busy touring schedule. He definitely reps for DC. So I’m like “yeah homie, where do I show up?”

I’ll be digging in my stash of joints that never come out the house for a gig. Indie rawk, electro, old school hip-hop album cuts, I really have no idea what it’ll be other than the exact opposite of a usual DJ Stylus set. So if you want to drink cheap beer at a dive bar with a free-form musical agenda in a gentrification resistant sector of the city (but not for long), or if you fondly remember the anarchy that was Kingpin, hollerate….

The Vibe Conductor + Sharkey on the Cut
Saturday, Feb. 9
cover: free
time: 10 ’til whenever
Jimmy Valentine’s
1103 Bladensburg Rd. NE, DC"
I'd go if I was there.

Changing the cell phone industry

So this is pretty awesome. A company called Modu developed a mini phone, the size of an iPod Nano. That can be used as a basic cell phone, but that's about it. This small phone will fit in a slot on different "jackets" that will each will have different phone options, depending on what the use is for that day. Just think, this may solve the issue of always wanting a new phone. You could just get a new jacket for your phone. From the yahoo story:
"The jackets that will be available at launch in the other countries reflect the differences between them. The Russian carrier wants an emphasis on kids, who are the big growth market for cell phones there, so Modu is making jackets with cartoon themes for them. The Israeli carrier wanted a cell phone for soldiers, so Modu is making a rugged, green jacket with a built-in flashlight. Other jackets could focus on music, coming with pre-loaded tunes, or have full keyboards for texting. Universal Music Group said it is looking at making jackets that center on its artists."
Modu has also been in talks to use the phone in anything that would be needed to connect to the internet: GPS Units, car stereos.

Only problem is these are being released only in Russia and Italy right now. Maybe one day we will see it, I think it could change the whole cell phone industry.

Just saying some junk

Can you blame everything on the rain. I don't know, nor do I care. But it was pouring all morning and the little drainage area on Campbell's Run Road was pretty high up. I wonder what would happen if we had another huge storm...

The reason I chose this song is because I watched the 20/20 special last night regarding Natalee Holloway and the Dutch kid Joran Van der Sloot. I won't be commenting on the show right now. But listening to the Dutch dudes talk, even if it was about dumping a body, brought me back to 1989 the year I moved to the Netherlands, and my friends and I listened to Milli Vanilli and my buddy Martijn Hendriks only knew the words "Blame it on dee rain, JA JA."

One comment I will make, is I think that undercover dude is looking for his own TV show. All that crying and dramatics almost made me turn it off.

Yeah, that's the Dutch version...I think I may go buy some Dutch on CD's so I can learn it. I can understand some, and speak less but I'm upset with my younger self for not learning languages while I was there.

On another note, some older lady at work passed by me and she straight up smelled like T-Gunn from 1995-96, Eternity for Men. But the next whiff I got was a popcorn/cotton candy flavor...made me so hungry I couldn't eat my Ham Sandwich from Sunday that I took to the bar in case they didn't have food, I had to come home and eat a brand new Ham Sandwich.

I'm glad I didn't need the ham sandwich...that's because Jeckyl and Hyde did things right...came with 4 food choices, the Belvedere Vodka girls, and Miller Light girls. So for $3.00 I bought one beer, but got 2 servings of food, 3 Cokes, 2-3 cups of jungle juice Belvedere, 2 more beers, a t-shirt, seat cushion, lanyard thing, mini football, and bottle opener. Cheapest night of drinking I've had, maybe ever. Don't forget it's Fat Tuesday...So get ya fat on.

Chipotle freebie, cheap stuff, pic and video

I've actually never been to Chipotle, but I have a friend that really loves it so I figured I'd post this freebie for her. She says she reads my blog, but I don't believe her 100%...I guess we will see.

Get your free Chipotle burrito information here. Between February 1st and 12th, 2008 buy a gift card of at least $10.00...bring that receipt back on either February 13 or 14 and get a free Burrito. - 2 locations: Robinson and Oakland.

I think this is a pretty good deal for a Kingston 2gb USB flash memory drive. $9.95 and free shipping through Buy.com.

Being a sorta photographer, here is a job that would be neat, but scary since big fish freak me out. Especially ones in the ocean when you can't tell what you just stepped on, maybe not even a fish. Found over here.

And almost LAST, don't look up if you are reporting on a bird infestation. Stoopid.

Back when I was younger and lived in my Parents basement, I didn't have cable TV and therefore were very limited with what to watch late at night. So there were weekend nights were I'd be up late watching absolute crap. For instance, I have bought knives, sports cards, and an assortment of Jordan sports memorabilia from these knuckleheads on shopathome.com. I actually remember the guy that gets hurt, when it was his first day. I could hear the nerves, now he is a pro that stabs himself. Just keep the show rolling, very professional.

Weekend, dreams, Penguins

Pretty good weekend here.
Friday: Penn Brewery BarCrawl, McFadden's to meet up with a birthday, but ran into some knuckleheads
Saturday: Penguins game with a little TV time after the Malkin goal, Saddle Ridge with a gang of Cowgirls and Cowboys but no bull riders.
Sunday: Giants win the Superbowl while I'm at Jeckyl and Hyde with a small crowd

What a great weekend. But maybe that is the reason today sucked so bad. The old rule, "every whatever has an equal and opposite whatever." So since it was so good, not it must be a little bad. I woke up and was actually making a mean face. I realized I was really pretty pissed about something, but no idea what. I don't get mad very often, so it was really weird to wake up like this. As the day went on I tried thinking why I was so upset. What I finally concluded is I must have had a dream that really got me mad, but I don't remember it, so I woke up mad and didn't know why. Well, I guess that's why. Anyone else have ideas?

To make things worse, I didn't have lunch because I was watching/learning a demo, then just worked through my lunch without eating since I had a 1:00 meeting.

After such a rough day I treated my self to a Joey Bag of Doughnuts from Moe's for dinner. Made my night, alright.

So right now the Pens are winning 3-1 in the 3rd period over the the New Jersey Devils. I hope they can pop this win off and I can go to bed with good dreams.

It's Friday folks. Cheeseburger in a can for lunch?

Finally, I didn't think this week was going to end. Don't know if it was the weather, but my coworkers felt the same way. Tuesday felt like it should ahve been Thursday. But finally, only 8 more hours of work, then it's time to go BarCrawlin with the folks at Penn Brewery in the South Side. Then Saturday after the Pens game I'll be PubCrawlin with PubCrawl in the Strip District.

Be careful this morning out there, KDKA says there will be icy conditions for the morning commute.

Are you hungry? How about a cheeseburger in a can? Ymmmm. But with a conversion from Euro's, it's about $6.00.

Would you like to have your own vagina?
